GAMBOOLA CROSSING

Following heavy rainfall within the MSC Local Government Area in February 2022 and subsequent flood waters traversing the Mitchell River, Gamboola Crossing sustained excessive structural damage across its 300m length.

The crossing is located on Strathleven Road, which provides a link between the Burke Developmental Road to the North, and the Peninsula Development Road to the South. It also connects major beef cattle properties including Strathleven Station, Wrotham Park and Gamboola Station.

ARO is assisting Mareeba Shire Council with the detailed design of the proposed replacement of the existing (failed) structure, being a low-level 310m bridge, constructed on concrete girders or pre-cast reinforced concrete bridge decks.
